Using FitOverlay with DaVinci Resolve

Learn how to composite your metrics overlay onto your ride footage using the free version of DaVinci Resolve.

1

Drag your ride footage onto Track 1
Import your action camera footage and place it on the first video track in the timeline

2

Drag the metrics video onto Track 2
Place the FitOverlay metrics video on the track above your footage

3

Select the metrics clip on Track 2
Click on the overlay clip to select it for editing

4

Open the Inspector panel
Click the Inspector button in the top-right corner of the interface

5

Set Composite Mode to "Screen"
Under the Composite section, change the Composite Mode from "Normal" to "Screen"

How it works

The "Screen" composite mode makes the black background of the overlay invisible, leaving only the bright metrics graphics visible over your ride footage. You can reposition or scale the overlay using the Inspector's Transform controls if needed.
